Key Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate hardware design strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives
- Drive core aspects of the hardware design process, from concept to production, ensuring high-quality and innovative solutions
- Support management of budgets, allocate resources, and optimize workflows to meet project timelines and financial goals
- Work with external suppliers and vendors to source components and materials, negotiate contracts, and maintain relationships for successful hardware delivery
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in hardware design to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge, including AI and agentic AI
- Create and develop automation tools and AI to increase efficiency and eliminate human errors
- Consistently create, develop and maintain in-house automation and AI tools
- Oversee individual projects and work in conjunction with the team that develops all first Silicon hardware boards, backend packaged test components, and systems for the AMD Adaptive Embedded Computing products
Requirements
- Demonstrated team collaboration in working with an engineering team with proficiency in providing self-guidance initiatives and delivering performance on time to scheduled goals
- Strong experience in high-speed PCB design, layout and schematics
- Proficiency in Cadence Allegro and Capture CIS
- ATE and Characterization board development on Advantest T2000 and 93K ATE platforms preferred
- Power distribution network design for PCB and multiphase power regulation
- SI & PI simulation experience using Cadence Sigrity, Ansys Siwave, and HFSS 3D simulation software
- Mechanical simulation experience using Solidworks is a plus
- Experience with initial bring up and debug of ATE/bench boards and finding root cause of design and fabrication failures, including use of oscilloscope, multimeters, and basic hand tools in a lab environment
- Understanding of AMD comprehensive multi-node FPGA and 3D IC technology portfolio, different functional blocks, and package migration strategy
- Knowledge in automated equipment used for device testing, robotics in handling of packaged devices, and knowledge of thermal equipment used to control temperature dissipation of high wattage devices is a plus
- Knowledge in creating and developing automation and AI tools for design work or process
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics or both
