Key Responsibilities
- Lead and organize projects involving 10-20 software developers through quarterly planning cycles using Agile/Scrum methodologies (similar to SAFe).
- Drive project and scrum teams toward successfully meeting all delivery commitments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to create and execute comprehensive software project plans, including scope, schedule, staffing, quality, risk management, budget, and procurement.
- Manage stakeholder expectations by tracking project progress (e.g., release burndown) and making necessary corrections or resetting expectations.
- Identify, resolve, and escalate project issues while facilitating tradeoff decisions and removing organizational obstacles.
- Continuously analyze and manage risks to ensure successful project completion.
- Support the definition and optimization of software development processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance organizational efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years leading and managing complex software development projects.
- 2+ years of recent experience managing software development projects spanning multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and project planning/execution, including estimating and scheduling.
- Proven ability to work independently and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Polished communication skills, capable of presenting complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical leadership.
- Ability to understand scientific concepts relevant to genome sequencing technologies.
- Demonstrated business judgment in navigating complex program challenges for enterprise-scale software delivery.
- Excellent leadership skills with a strong sense of ownership over outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a matrix environment and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience using JIRA or an equivalent system to manage software development.
