Key Responsibilities
- Lead E&S due diligence (including EP, ESDD) for complex and high-risk transactions.
- Serve as the senior IBG Sustainable Finance E&S approver, identifying key risks and defining mitigation measures while maintaining commercial awareness.
- Drive the creation, enhancement, and implementation of sector-specific position statements, E&S Risk Management Frameworks, and exclusion lists.
- Advise client coverage teams and external clients on market-aligned ESG solutioning, ESG risk management, and negotiating E&S clauses in loan documentation.
- Actively collaborate with Risk Management Group and CSO teams to integrate E&S factors into underwriting and investment processes.
- Provide input into the development of climate risk methodologies, sustainability assessment tools, and ESG risk monitoring practices.
- Monitor emerging E&S best practices, regulations, and market developments to guide the Bank's thought leadership.
- Develop and deliver training programs on ESG risk assessment for internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Sharp market and commercial perspective combined with strong risk discipline.
- Proven ability to shape institutional E&S risk assessments within a first-line of defence function.
- Expertise in international environmental and social standards (e.g., Equator Principles or EP, IFC Performance Standards).
- Experience conducting complex due diligence on high-risk transactions.
- Ability to guide front-line Relationship Managers (RMs) on compliance with Net Zero commitments.
- Experience in policy development and implementation within a financial institution setting.
