Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan and execute small scale experiments according to project timelines. Lead discussions to align experimental requirements and plan with the relevant stakeholders
- Plan resources required for experiments. Work with the Process Sciences Manager and cross functional teams to allocate relevant resources to support and execute the experiments
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for issues faced during experimental runs and setup.
- Collaborate with Pharm Sci /GMSci or relevant cross functional teams on problem solving for relevant issues faced during the small-scale runs.
- Propose mitigation or solutions to resolve the issues
- Support Process Sciences engineers in the execution of the lab experiments
- Support analytical activities relevant to laboratory scale experiments. Work with the relevant cross functional or global teams to ensure that the testing support are in place for experiments
- Create and review of laboratory documentation including procedures, forms, protocols, and reports for routine activities and / or experiments according to relevant quality standards.
- Align the documentation according to quality standard where applicable, and global and internal requirements
- Analyse and summarize laboratory results. Review and approve laboratory results and reports
- Perform laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration as per laboratory procedures. Troubleshoot equipment failures
- Lead the implementation of new technologies for small scale model development and improvement
- Lead implementation of new equipment in the laboratory
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemical engineering with minimum 6 years of relevant experience or master’s degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with cell culture/ upstream processes and/or downstream purification processes in a small scale lab environment
- Hands on experience in scale down implementation, experiment DOE and lab scale process troubleshooting
- Prior experience with process development is an added advantage
- Strong experience in laboratory operations for biological upstream or downstream processes with ability to coach and train junior Process Sciences engineers
- Strong knowledge of analytical and cell culture/purification laboratory equipment with ability to coach and train junior Process Sciences engineers
- Excellent communication skills
- Good project management, stakeholder management and conflict management skills
