Buyer/Planner

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase direct materials, components, and equipment driven by MRP or Re-order Point systems.
• Review planning reports to ensure timely material availability for production.
• Drive Gross Margin Improvements through negotiations with suppliers on pricing, rework cost, and minimizing expediting/purchase price variance.
• Reduce materials lead time by improving supplier cycle times and negotiating hedges/VMI programs.
• Ensure timely PO execution and address supplier quality, capacity, or material issues affecting supply.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding early or delayed deliveries to drive on-time performance.
• Actively participate in business reviews with suppliers and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of claims from suppliers on ECO and EOM projects.
• Review and execute ECN and ECO changes promptly to prevent production disruption.
• Develop actions with Inventory Analyst to minimize excess inventory and improve inventory turns through quick MRB/RTV execution.
• Conduct quarterly safety stock reviews to balance supply against inventory turns.
