Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into new laser sustained plasma technology, including performance simulations and experimental design.
  • Construct research setups for experiments involving laser-sustained plasma systems.
  • Perform independent and collaborative research to characterize plasma and analyze experimental data to demonstrate desired performance.
  • Develop architectures for LSP prototypes based on high-level system requirements, considering reliability and cost.
  • Collaborate with laser, optics, manufacturing, electrical, and software scientists to prove feasibility and mitigate technical risks.
  • Document concepts, designs, and experimental data clearly, presenting findings to achieve final release targets.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Sound academic training in plasma physics, fluid mechanics, nuclear physics, atomic physics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in system-level laser-sustained plasma performance studies (experimental and theoretical).
  • Experience building and operating complex optical benches.
  • Familiarity with approaches/challenges in laser-induced or sustained plasma, nuclear physics, or high energy physics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be a team player.
