Key Responsibilities
- Originate, evaluate, and deliver new equity and business development opportunities for Crude Trading aligned with the EED Trading desk strategy, including research and analysis of medium- to long-term investments in independent producers, refiners, and logistics companies, combined with long-term offtake, supply, and storage agreements.
- Develop and manage strategic customer and partner relationships that complement those held by EED Trading desks and regional Business Development Managers, strengthening Shell's commercial positioning and market access.
- Design and deliver innovative commercial solutions that meet customer requirements and maximise the value of tradable options, while ensuring robust management of credit, price risk, HSSE, compliance, and Group reputation considerations.
- Lead the negotiation of complex commercial agreements to maximise equity investment and trading value, including pricing, logistics and freight, operating and lifting flexibility, scheduling, quality, storage, and customer solutions across financing, hedging, and M&A, including deployment of T&S equity capital.
- Project-manage new development opportunities end to end, leading cross-functional project teams to successful delivery; support governance and implementation with trading desks, contribute to wider BD initiatives, mentor junior team members, secure required corporate approvals, and collaborate across Shell businesses to realise full portfolio and trading value.
Requirements
- Proven commercial experience in Business Development, M&A, and/or Structured Trade Finance, with the ability to develop innovative financial and commercial solutions in highly competitive and rapidly evolving market environments.
- Experience with working capital optimization, pre-financing structures, equity deployment, M&A transactions, and risk management solutions is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-business and cross-functional initiatives, adopting an 'Enterprise First' mindset.
- Strong organisational, influencing, and stakeholder management skills are required, along with the ability to operate autonomously, show initiative, and manage complex projects end to end.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work successfully across diverse cultures, personalities, and organisational levels.
- Proven experience engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver value in Business Development projects.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel, including short-notice customer site visits, is a key requirement.
- High level of intellectual curiosity and learning agility, with the ability to quickly develop credibility and a deep understanding of upstream, downstream, and trading activities within the region when engaging with senior internal stakeholders.
