Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance to Shell Code of Conduct, Ethics, and demonstrate leadership and commitment to HSSE, addressing hazards and risks within the team and with external partners.
- Possess clear understanding of Time Charter Party terms, fulfill all obligations and comply with necessary requirements. Where applicable, timely close out of charter parties, costs accounting, and coordinate timely sign-off from freight traders.
- Manage shipping owner accounts, handle operational issues, review costs, and manage disputes. Foster relationships with ship owners to improve operational efficiency beyond contractual obligations.
- Play an active role in voyage economics, planning and optimization, monitoring vessel performance and kick-starting vessel performance efficiency related conversations timely.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and service providers.
- Multi-task on priorities and think on your feet to deal with contractual problems ensuring that they are managed professionally and optimally for the trading business. Ensure clear communications to internal stakeholders, challenge decision-making when needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate update of all operational information into trading systems.
- Support initiatives and digitalization efforts to improve commercial freight operations efficiency. Identify synergies with other Shell Trading businesses for process improvement.
- Competency and digital literacy will be required. Operator is expected keep up with systems reporting requirements and be equipped with basic skills of data analysis to keep up with SLMT digitalization vision.
- Coach and support team members in the Operations organization.
- Achieve and deliver to relevant SLMT and Operations KPIs.
- Understand global contractual constraints, collaborate with regional teams. Respond flexibly to requests outside normal office hours, 24/7 support expected.
Requirements
- Experience in commercial operations (preferably LNG) or sailing experience will be a strong advantage.
- A key criterion is to be able to operate within a non-standard environment where the counterparty requires and expects considerable support and at the same time be able to gently introduce standardization and efficiency.
- A high level of fluency in the English language, both written and spoken is required.
