Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of biosafety policies, SOPs, and guidelines
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure compliance with biosafety requirements
- Monitor adherence to approved biosafety practices and follow up on any gaps
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities on biosafety matters
- Assist in coordinating safety-related meetings and addressing user queries
- Provide support to Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) activities, including coordination and documentation
- Advise and support facility users on biosafety requirements and approval processes
- Contribute to institutional biorisk management efforts
- Coordinate the movement (import/export) and inventory tracking of biological materials
- Maintain accurate records of biosafety activities, training, and incidents
- Assist in developing and delivering biosafety training programmes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in BSL-2 or BSL-3 laboratory environments
- Must be a qualified Biosafety Coordinator/Officer recognised by MOH
- Familiarity with biosafety principles and regulatory requirements
- Experience in audits, inspections, or SOP development is an advantage
- Strong organisational, communication, and documentation skills
- Comfortable working in a high-containment laboratory environment and using required PPE
- Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 35001, ISO 9001) or GLP
- Experience in molecular biology, cell culture, or laboratory animal work
