Key Responsibilities
- Research on rapid fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites in multiple matrix systems
- Working with a team of scientists and engineers to enhance the capability of compression moulding technology
- Working on out-of-autoclave, vaccum bagging, resin infusion, aerospace grade composites
- Conduct mechanical tests, testing tool/jig design and material characterizations, including tensile, compressive, shearing, and advanced composite tests such as DCB, CAI, etc
- Develop and test innovative solutions to optimize composite compression moulding process technologies
- Prepare project progress update presentation for customers
- Prepare research project presentations, and reports, conduct R&D experiments and file technology disclosures
- Support in the process equipment set-up, laboratory operations, and inventory management for export control items
- Keep a good record of production work orders, laboratory data, methods, results, drawings, etc
- Able to perform well in both industry-type and research-type projects
Requirements
- Master or Bachelor in Aerospace/ Mechanical/ Material Science Engineering, etc
- Having 2-3 year or more relevant working experience on composite fabrication
- Experienced with composite moulding machine operations and process troubleshooting
- Excellent technical hands on and presentation skills
- Can-do attitude and ability to work with different needs of various stakeholders
- Proactive team player and technically motivated to solve problems and discover new research topics
- Competent in the use of 3D modelling, process simulation and FE structural analysis will be a bonus
- Meticulous, fine attention to detail and technically inclined towards process and laboratory work
- Willing to learn new skills
- Comfortable with customer/vendor interactions and handling project negotiations
- Basic knowledge of composite mechanics, CAD design, finite-element analysis and AI algorithm utiliaztion is required
- Experience in project management, and patent applications will be advantageous
- Familiar with CAD and CAE tools, SolidWorks, etc
- Knowledge of a wide range of forming technologies of metal, composites, and polymer materials
