Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Private Banking governance and risk management framework aligned with Group standards, MAS requirements, and industry best practices.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and controls adequately support responsible business growth and evolving regulatory expectations.
- Set governance priorities and key focus areas, incorporating regulatory themes, risk assessments, and business strategy.
- Represent Private Banking Singapore at relevant governance and risk committees, including Financial Crime Risk Committee (FCRC), Operational Risk Committee (ORC), Fair Dealing Committee (FDC), PB SG Operational Risk & Governance Committee (ORGC).
- Act as the primary governance and risk advisor to the Private Banking Singapore business on regulatory, compliance, AML/CFT, financial crime, and operational risk matters.
- Maintain strong oversight of client risk profiling, source of wealth/funds assessments, and ongoing monitoring standards.
- Maintain effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Operations, and Group Governance.
- Provide clear, practical governance guidance that enables informed business decision‑making.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring timely remediation of findings and sustainable closure of issues.
- Lead, manage, and develop the Private Banking Governance/Risk & Control team, ensuring adequate resourcing, capability, and succession planning.
- Foster a strong risk culture, accountability, and professionalism within the team.
- Ensure team members receive appropriate training to stay current with regulatory developments, financial crime trends, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, Economics or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g. ACAMS, ICA, CFA, FRM) are advantageous.
- Minimum 12–15 years of relevant experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management Governance, Risk, Compliance, or Financial Crime.
- Prior experience in a regulated financial institution in Singapore.
- Strong expertise in MAS regulations, Private Banking governance, AML/CFT, and financial crime risk.
- Proven leadership experience within Private Banking, Wealth Management, Risk, Compliance, or Governance functions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior management and regulators.
- Well informed of the market competitive structure, industry practices and regulations for the Private Banking segment.
- Strong analytical, escalation, and decision‑making capabilities.
