Key Responsibilities
- Perform overhaul, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of diesel engines and key components such as: Cylinder heads Water pumps Turbochargers
- Execute maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for mtu engines and associated power generation systems in the workshop and occasionally at site
- Diagnose faults across mechanical systems, fuel systems (injectors, pumps, governors), and auxiliary systems , ensuring root cause identification
- Support engine testing and commissioning activities , including troubleshooting during bench testing
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with OEM manuals, technical documentation, and quality standards
- Deliver against turnaround time (TAT), quality, and production targets in a high-demand workshop environment
- Prepare technical service and investigation reports , ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians , including interpretation of drawings and use of tools
- Maintain strict compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) standards and internal safety requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and workshop capability
- Travel regionally when required to support service or technical assignments
Requirements
- NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in: Diesel engines Power generation systems (gensets) Heavy equipment or marine engines
- Strong experience in engine overhaul and component repair , not just maintenance
- Proven ability to work on fuel systems (injectors, pumps, governors) and rotating equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals
- Strong troubleshooting capability with a structured, root-cause approach
- Comfortable working in a high-utilization, production-driven workshop environment
- Willingness to travel regionally when required
- Prior experience with mtu engines or Rolls-Royce Power Systems products
- Exposure to power generation applications, marine engines, or industrial diesel engines
- Experience with CNC machines or precision repair processes for engine components
- Familiarity with governmental or regulated equipment environments is an advantage
