Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, fabrication, and measurement of optoelectronic quantum devices, such as single-photon detectors, based on low-dimensional van der Waals materials.
  • Establish fabrication recipes, protocols, and material processing capabilities within the project and the research group.
  • Lead the measurements and analysis of the experimental data and supervise engineering and optimization of the device performance.
  • Set up measuring capabilities, including a cryostat for electrical, optical, and magneto-transport measurements, and establish measurement protocols.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and capability upgrade.
  • Lead the reporting and communication with all involved stakeholders.
  • Lead filing of technology disclosures and technical documentation.
  • Lead the preparation and publication of research manuscripts

Requirements

  • PhD in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or any related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Expertise in the fabrication and measurements of optical devices based on low-dimensional materials.
  • Expertise in optical setups and in performing experiments in quantum and/or nonlinear optics in the visible and near-IR range.
  • Expertise in single-photon experiments is highly desired.
  • Expertise in measurements, analysis, and interpretation of the optical and electro-optical experimental data.
  • Expertise in the fabrication of van der Waals heterostructures and handling air-sensitive 2D materials.
  • Expertise in cryogenic techniques and in performing measurements at low temperatures
  • Expertise in nanofabrication techniques such as lithography, thin film deposition, plasma etching, and 2D material processing.
  • Experience in software programming (LabVIEW and/or Python)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project: independently plan, execute, and report on a research study.
  • High-level communication skills and the ability to network effectively and interact with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines.
