Key Responsibilities

  • Develop techniques, conditions, and strategies to understand, identify, and test innovative and scalable submerged fermentation processes.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary research projects.
  • Effectively collaborate internally and externally with geographically, culturally, and stylistically diverse stakeholders.
  • Communicate work by preparing and presenting proposals and progress updates to technical, leadership, and business development teams.
  • Write journal papers, technology disclosures, and project reports.
  • Develop and test novel approaches to fermentation, automation, and digitalization (e.g., continuous fermentation, digital twin).
  • Initiate risk assessments and ensure compliance with all HSEP rules and regulations, as well as SIFBI internal rules.

Requirements

  • PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in fermentation working with different microbial systems at various scales.
  • Expertise in Biocatalysis and Downstream Processing.
  • Process-centric approach to fermentation process development with holistic process understanding ('begin with the end in mind').
  • Proven ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable next steps.
  • Track record in project management and applied multidisciplinary research/development in biocatalysis, bioprocess development, or biochemical engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities.
