Key Responsibilities
- Develop techniques, conditions, and strategies to understand, identify, and test innovative and scalable submerged fermentation processes.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary research projects.
- Effectively collaborate internally and externally with geographically, culturally, and stylistically diverse stakeholders.
- Communicate work by preparing and presenting proposals and progress updates to technical, leadership, and business development teams.
- Write journal papers, technology disclosures, and project reports.
- Develop and test novel approaches to fermentation, automation, and digitalization (e.g., continuous fermentation, digital twin).
- Initiate risk assessments and ensure compliance with all HSEP rules and regulations, as well as SIFBI internal rules.
Requirements
- PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in fermentation working with different microbial systems at various scales.
- Expertise in Biocatalysis and Downstream Processing.
- Process-centric approach to fermentation process development with holistic process understanding ('begin with the end in mind').
- Proven ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable next steps.
- Track record in project management and applied multidisciplinary research/development in biocatalysis, bioprocess development, or biochemical engineering.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management abilities.
