Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for laboratory organization, including but not limited to ensuring labs are clean and organized, communal stock administration, oversight of cold storage units and lab access procedures
  • Maintain and organize inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies using our in house systems and databases
  • Assisting with coordinating of laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance and keeping records up to date
  • Hosting internal and external contractors during visits to the laboratories
  • Track, order, and receive lab reagents and disposables such as chemicals, enzymes, buffers, pipette tips, reagent tubes, etc
  • Handling Environment, Health & Safety (e.g. point-of-contact for the EH&S team and Risk Assessments, safety inspections) and Facilities (e.g. equipment moves, space planning) related tasks
  • As applicable: assist specialist labs with their needs in order to maintain functionality and support the day-to-day operations
  • Provide ad-hoc support to others within lab management team
  • Collaborate with other departments on cross functional projects

Requirements

  • Experience working in or supervising a wet lab or equivalent containing standard equipment (liquid handling robots, safety cabinets, compressed gases, chemical handling and disposal, centrifuges, PCR machines, etc.)
  • Experience with, or ability to learn, microbiological containment level requirements, to CL2
  • Organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent time management skills
  • Experience working with a Quality Management System
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, cheerful individual who desires to be part of a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Uses interpersonal skills to influence customers, suppliers and other comparable level managers
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or a Science Diploma with 3 years of relevant or equivalent work experience in a science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Surface Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics, Genetics, or a related discipline)
  • Having considerable direct work experience with working directly with Scientists is a plus
  • Strong communication skills for regular interactions with Core R&D lab teams and other teams & departments
