Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper process of buy-off inspections of parts, assemblies, or systems at various stages of production, utilizing industry-standard inspection techniques (e.g. visual inspection, functional testing)
- Track non-conformance reports filed during the buy-off process and develop and implement preventive action plans to mitigate recurring defects
- Design and implement quality assurance protocols, checklists, and testing procedures specific to precision engineering workflows
- Establish, update, and ensure adherence to quality documentation, including inspection reports and non-conformance records
- Coordinate and oversee the First Article Inspection (FAI) process for new manufacturing processes or parts, ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards
- Work closely with engineers to review technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances, providing feedback to enhance reliability and quality
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to enhance long-term quality and reliability, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Lead the tracking and investigation of quality-related returns and customer complaints using the fishbone methodology, coordinating problem-solving efforts and implementing long-term preventive measures
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and supplier quality standards
- Analyze quality data and trends from issue tracking systems (Project Issue Log) to identify opportunities for process optimization and defect reduction
- Classify issues into relevant disciplines such as quality, operational, or design-related concerns
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical & Electronic Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field from a recognized institution
- Preferably at least 3 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within precision engineering, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing
- Hands-on expertise in inspection techniques (e.g. visual inspection, functional testing)
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Project Issue Log)
- Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI), root cause analysis (e.g., fish bone methodology), and non-conformance reporting
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to present ideas, approaches, and objectives clearly
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Able to work independently and as a team effectively adjusting oneself flexibly to different work situations
