Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor market dynamics and how they relate to gas and LNG supply/demand to provide insightful, objective, complete and accurate commercial analysis to the LNG Analytics, Trading and Marketing teams
  • Develop fundamental and commercial analysis primarily relating to China market and how its dynamics impact gas and LNG fundamentals, including prediction of China’s LNG import, Chinese players’ trading behaviours, storage dynamics
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive bottoms-up model of China’s gas and LNG supply and demand fundamentals, leading economic and energy demand indicators that relates to China’s gas and LNG supply and demand
  • Drive LNG/gas fundamental global model development together with LNG Analytics and have a key role in forming the LNG market view
  • Formulate and actively propose trade strategies based on fundamentals view to drive Trading P&L
  • Produce ad-hoc analysis as requested by Traders / Trading Management
  • Remain knowledgeable about leading-edge developments, analytical techniques, technologies and tools in Trading analytics

Requirements

  • Excellent analytical, strategic and statistical capability
  • Experience and knowledge of data modelling, and proficiency with R, Python or Matlab
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral in local language and English
  • Ability to work effectively in multinational / multicultural environment
  • Language skills valued (in addition to English): Mandarin
  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Strong understanding of China’s economy, gas and LNG infrastructure, and gas/LNG supply and demand
  • Wide industry network relating to China gas/LNG supply and demand
  • Commercial experience in short-term LNG trading environment is beneficial
  • Demonstrated business acumen and desire to lead change
