Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert and support day-to-day export and import operational transactions in the AMEA region. Work with Illumina's customs brokers in the APJ region for timely and accurate customs clearances.
- Use SAP GTS for shipment management, SPL block release, license management, & reporting.
- Work with local governmental agencies to resolve import and export holds.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate import/export risks across the AMEA region. Support the establishment and enforcement of robust internal controls.
- Participate in trade compliance training for internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with global stakeholder teams to develop and implement new trade compliance processes and initiatives across the AMEA region.
- Drive customs valuation related activities for foreign jurisdictions, working proactively with internal stakeholders (Tax, Legal, etc.) to achieve desired valuation outcomes.
- Maintain accurate trade data for all products, including HTS codes, Country of Origin, accurate valuation, and invoice accuracy, to ensure timely and compliant customs clearance.
- Maintain recordkeeping and document management related to import/export transactions.
- Support internal/external customers by providing timely updates on export/import shipments.
- Participate in broker evaluations and business reviews.
- Conduct internal audits, identify compliance gaps, and drive corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Logistics, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain or Business Administration or other related field.
- 5+ years import / export experience with focus on trade compliance and logistics.
- Technical expertise in customs valuation and COO requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Singapore customs regulations, and experience with Korean, Japanese, Indian, and Australia import and export regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of HTS code classification for AMEA region
- Experience with SAP ECC functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgement, creativity, flexibility.
- Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task several tasks/projects at once.
- Ability to adapt to rapid change, work with a sense of urgency, and effective time management.
