Key Responsibilities
- Understand the general operating mechanisms and monitored failure modes of the rail assets
- Install, configure, and maintain IoT edge devices and sensors for data acquisition from rail assets
- Prepare and maintain as-built electrical and instrumentation schematic drawings for project documentation
- Prepare method statements and risk assessments for installation and commissioning works
- Support integration of IoT edge data with centralized systems; opportunities to develop data pipelines or cloud interfaces can be provided based on interest and candidate progression
- Conduct basic data validation and visualization to verify data integrity and system performance
- Collaborate with internal teams and end-users to gather feedback and improve monitoring systems
- Participate in on-site work during engineering hours (night) as part of project implementation, testing, and commissioning
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related STEM field
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits and practical application of electrical and electronic principles
- Hands-on technical skills in cabling, cable routing, termination, and instrumentation setup
- Ability to interpret and produce electrical and instrumentation schematic drawings, including as-built documentation using CAD software
- Experience or familiarity with IoT devices, sensors, or PLC/SCADA systems is advantageous
- Basic knowledge and formal training in electrical circuits and fundamentals
- Working understanding in electrical, electronics and power principles, circuit theory
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment, measurement tools, and techniques
- Proficient in using CAD software for electrical schematic drawings
- Willing to learn and passionate about programming and instrumentation
- Have exposure to a high-level programming language e.g., Python or MATLAB, for data analysis and verification is a plus
- Optional: Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases, Microsoft Azure cloud services (IoT Hub and Azure Sphere)
- Strong inclination and eager for continual learning and development
