Key Responsibilities
- Perform repair, refurbishment, and modification of high-temperature dies using appropriate tooling and techniques
- Operate and maintain a range of equipment, including: Manual polishing tools, Welding equipment, 5-axis CNC machines, Wire-cut machines (EDM), Lathes and drilling machines, Hydraulic and pneumatic tooling
- Use hand tools, gauges, fixtures, and precision instruments to support die shop operations
- Conduct geometric inspection and measurement analysis using high-precision inspection equipment
- Interpret and execute tasks based on: Technical drawings, Written and illustrated technique sheets, Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and problem-solving on the shopfloor
- Maintain strict adherence to: Quality standards and procedures, 5S and housekeeping practices, Health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Support ad-hoc shopfloor activities related to tooling, repair, and production needs
Requirements
- NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in tool and die, machining, or precision engineering environment
- Hands-on experience in at least 2–3 of the following areas is required: CNC machining (preferably 5-axis), Wire cutting (EDM), Lathe or milling operations, Welding (tooling/die repair context), Manual polishing and finishing
- Experience working with high-temperature or hardened materials is advantageous
- Familiarity with geometric measurement / inspection equipment (e.g., CMM) preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Strong hands-on technical capability with tools and machines
- High attention to precision, detail, and quality
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair tooling issues independently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and extended hours
- Team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
