Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments including enzyme-assisted pretreatment and transformation of food side streams for fermentation media formulation.
  • Manage microbial (fungi, yeast, microalgae) fermentations to produce functional food/feed ingredients, bioactives, and personal care products.
  • Prepare technical proposals for Scale Up from R&D to pilot scale based on customer requirements (Tech Transfer).
  • Prepare Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) required for the Scale Up process.
  • Conduct pilot fermentation and downstream processing runs with partners from ScaleUp Bio for national and international clients.
  • Maintain highly organized records of experimental data, notes, information, and references.
  • Analyze and report experimental findings regularly to the project team, detailing key results and next steps.
  • Support maintenance of lab and pilot equipment while adhering to good laboratory practices.
  • Comply with HSEP, GMP, GDP, and hygiene requirements specific to lab and pilot scale operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to operate microbial fermentation, biocatalysis, and downstream processing from lab scale up to 200 L scale.
  • Strong practical experience in laboratory and pilot-scale work reporting.
  • Proficiency with routine analytical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot processes and perform diligent analysis independently.
  • Demonstrated passion for scientific and translational research work.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of research and manufacturing integrity.
