Key Responsibilities

  • Actively engaged in various research projects (some involving industrial collaborations) relating to developing a high throughput automation platform for enzymes screening or micro-organisms evolution and engineering as hosts for synthetic biology / metabolic engineering of novel pathways involved in speciality chemical synthesis for the food and consumer care sectors.
  • Provide support in the area of industry projects, synthetic biology and high throughput laboratory automation.
  • Tasked with the day to day management of the SIFBI biofoundary facility, running of the equipment, and optimizing the automation workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Bioengineering, Chemical engineering, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or related fields.
  • Candidate with hands-on experience with liquid handling or lab automation system would be preferred.
  • Experience with high-throughput biological assay development in laboratory automation setting, including liquid handlers and analytical equipment.
  • Ability to understand basic scripting (e.g. C#) and able to understand the logic, variable and execution of a program.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA purification, electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digestion, DNA ligation, protein purification, etc.
  • Experience with basic cell culture techniques such inoculations, growth curve measurement etc.
  • Candidate should be dynamic, highly motivated and able to work with multiple teams, with good communications skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with molecular biology techniques, especially in high-through automation setting.
