  • Monitor regulatory updates and implement new or revise safety policies, SOPs and guidelines to ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, statutory regulations, and organisation policies
  • Coordinate the import, export or trans-shipment of controlled chemicals
  • Consolidate risk assessments for management oversight, advise on risk assessments methodology with focus on chemical, biological, radiological (CBR) hazards, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Identify and recommend best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, to improve safe work practices and to raise safety awareness by organising WSH awareness programmes (e.g. Divisional Safety Week)
  • Involved in incident reporting, investigation, follow up actions, and maintain records for the management and authorities with the implementation of mitigation measures to prevent future occurrence

Requirements

  • Diploma/ Degree in Biological Sciences/ Biomedical Sciences/ Chemistry/ Radiation Biology/ Workplace Safety and Health
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a scientific research institution with direct experience in chemical, biological and/or radiological safety management, or at least 7 years of demonstrable WSH experience specifically related to high-hazard environments
  • Possess minimally a Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health
  • MOM registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
  • SCDF certified Fire Safety Manager
  • Experience with regulatory inspections and audits is highly desirable
  • Experience working with National Authorities (e.g. MOH, NEA, SCDF)
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations, equipment validation, and testing protocols
  • Good English language proficiency, both spoken and written
  • Good interpersonal skill and a team player
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Adaptable and able to quickly learn and apply new safety regulations and best practices
